 Today I got a message from someone yelling at me for being a feminist and telling me that I am actively degrading women. I don’t think I’ve ever truly declared myself a feminist on this website but I have a horrible memory and I’m sure I have somewhere in the universe.

Feminism and me are ol’ pals. I grew up in the heyday of girl power graduating from the Spice Girls to Shirley Manson and Gwen Stefani. I wanted to be Tank Girl when I grew up. I knew women kicked ass, maybe even more so than men and that I should never let my vagina stop me from anything.

I liked erotica even before I knew what it was. I was exposed to a lot of beautiful naked women through vintage Vogues, watching the Godfather triolgy[I had to close my eyes during the violent scenes not sex] and just by being a curious kid before the age of ten. Seeing my mom naked or topless or being in her room while she dressed was never weird to me.

I was not raised to be ashamed of my nude body or sexuality.

My appreciation for nudity grew as I hit puberty and because a horny fucking teenager. I started watching porn. I knew what I liked and what I didn’t. I was coming of age when Sucide Girls was founded, I though Anna Nicole Smith was incredibly hot and watched her movie with my friends but also knew you could be outside the social norm and be sexually attractive.

I’m kind of babbling here, I’m sorry.

So here it is: I belive in equality for everyone despite racial, gender or sexual indenifciation differences. I will stand by that to the day I die.
